Athletes United for Peace is a 501c3 in Consultative Status with the United Nation Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). AUP has served as a member of the United Nations team of non-governmental organizations (NGO) since 1998. The selection was based on AUP’s many years of work to promote peace through sports to constituencies in the United States and abroad.
Through information technology and digital media, AUP regularly disseminates key information on United Nations programs and initiatives via the internet and news media. AUP is has been involved with various programs and initiatives sponsored by the Commission on the Status of Women, UNICEF and UNESCO's Office of Sports Development.
