Athletes United for Peace (AUP) is a 501(c)(3) non-governmental organization in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2011.
ECOSOC is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations and is responsible for advancing international cooperation on economic, social, humanitarian, and sustainable development issues. Through Special Consultative Status, qualified NGOs are able to engage with the United Nations by attending meetings, contributing expertise, submitting written statements, participating in discussions, and supporting UN initiatives and global dialogue.
AUP has supported efforts to promote peace, human dignity, education, and international cooperation through sports and community engagement in the United States and abroad.
AUP has also participated in and supported initiatives connected to United Nations bodies and programs, including the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the Permanent Forum on People of African Descent, Financing for Development, UNESCO, and other international initiatives.
